A Somatics Client’s Message - “I Just Really Love the Way I Feel this Morning”

As I walked to the post box this morning there was something that felt really strange, barely any traffic, or children walking to school, it felt like a Sunday, without the Sunday feel. It was a tumbleweed moment, where was everyone, had I woken in another dimension? Then my friend told me the game she was watching was really gripping, game? waited a moment then the penny dropped! I had no idea the re-run of the England v Mexico match was on. I'll admit, football isn't really my world, but even I cannot resist the phrase every fan, pundit and manager will be now using this week until Saturday: match fit.

Football may not be your thing but I think we can all resonate with the feeling of “match fit” It can feel and be different for all of us. When clients come to me, often their match fit is they want to address a pain or tension issue or know they just feel out of sorts, like their body isn’t their own. Ros, booked a 1:1 with me as she was feeling just like this, the last few years taking a emotional toll. The day after her session she sent me a voice note which came completely unprompted, just because she wanted to say thank you:

“I’ve woken up this morning feeling really good... I’ve been having a dance round the bedroom and I just feel and look so much better... I’m really going to keep it up because I just really love the way I feel.”.
— Ros C.

"I've woken up this morning feeling really good... I've been having a dance round the bedroom and I just feel and look so much better... I'm really going to keep it up because I just really love the way I feel."

I guess I could say she was feeling on top of her game ⚽️ ! (sorrrryyyy)

I've listened to her voice note so many times since. Someone waking up lighter. Dancing round her bedroom to her favourite music. Feeling good in her own clothes. That's the whole point of this work. It's not about being fixed, it's just those quiet mornings where your body feels like yours again.

If that's the kind of "match fit" you're after, not fixed, just more at home in yourself then my Back Care Basics workshop is this Saturday. We won't be troubleshooting or chasing a cure. We'll simply go back to basics, giving your back the attention and movement it's been asking for, so you can find a bit of that same lightness Ros woke up with.

(I promise no more football puns!) ⚽️

Details & bookings for that are here together with what’s in class this week and upcoming offers.

Have a wonderful week, from my heart, soul and soma to yours.

In Class this Week - Final Week of Strength & Ease

We’ve been exploring somatic ways to build strength and co-ordination over the last weeks and this week we’ll bring it all together. Starting with a gentle shoulders and hips sequence. This isn’t about perfecting crawling, gaining strength can be about just exploring what is possible for you on any given day.

Now in the Library - Wrists that can bear Weight. Plus two more classes in the Short & Sweet Library.

One student said this was one of the best classes she’s ever taken with me! The wrist section at the beginning, I’ve also edited and you’ll find it in the Short n Sweet library too. It’s amazing how releasing the wrists creates so much ease in the rest of the body. In this class we spend a short amount of time in hands and knees to explore weight bearing and also prone, to create more movement in the upper back.

I’d love to hear how you are finding these classes?
